Turbo actuator setup - standard pd130 KKK turbo

Featured Replies

Disclaimer: dear all please play nicely, this is new territory for me and as much as I have read on the Internet I feel I may ask many stupid questions... :-)

So is there such a thing as a "standard setup" on a stock turbo for a pd130. Specifically a kkk on a BLT. By this I think I mean actuator/stop screw position.

I have had a strange noise since having a turbo replaced under warranty about 6 months ago, the noise never bothered me but did amplify when I had my remap. I have posted the sound clip on the forum twice now and two different people have asked me if the turbo has been setup correctly. Truth is, I don't know.

Here is the infamous noise clip...

(There's lots of indicating in the video it was a right rat run where I used to live!).

I don't have VCDS at the minute but if there is a purely spanner approach to this that would be great.

I'm not conscious I'm not really providing loads of information here so questions are welcome!

Should also add, this noise has been present for 30,000 miles and has got no worse and the performance of the car hasn't changed. The only thing is the car smokes like a bitch when giving it some flat footed welly. Otherwise it is fine and performance is still good despite the smoke and stupid noise.

Thanks in advance

Ash

Who rebuilt turbo?

Who's map is it?

Absolutely no idea where the turbo came from, warranty company shipped it to a skoda dealership near me and they fitted it. It's a Shark remap (their stage 1).
