My dad has a 5 year old Octavia and has bought a new battery with the winter approaching as the current one is starting to struggle. He is wondering if there are any potential problesm in changing this over - i.e. radio security resetiing, warning lights coming on. Does he have a finite amount of time that he needs to get the changeover completed?

when i put my CAI on i had the battery off for about an hour, i had no problems at all when i re-connected it, the stereo didnt even need coding afterwards!!!

My dad is going to change his battery now as the car wouldn't start the other morning. However he is unsure how to get it out. There seems to be a metal strap at the front, that disappears under the black box that has the wiring and fuses in it. How does that come off?
