Fitting AP Coilovers

Featured Replies

Been quoted £100 to fit my AP coilovers to my Fabia VRS, is this a good price or a little expensive?

How hard are they actually to fit? I know the car will need to be aligned afterwards but was just wondering has anyone fitted them themselves?

Any help is appreciated.

In my opinion that's a good price.

You'd need a range of sockets (including the spine drive thingy to fit the bolt used to hold the strut in), a hub spreader (or suitable replacement), decent jack (to get it high enough in the air), axle stands, probably an angle grinder for old drop link removal (don't forget to order replacements...), spring compressors, mallet/blocks of wood and probably a day sat on your arse on a cold floor.

You'd probably be best replacing the top mounts as well, and maybe the console bushes if these haven't been replaced/upgraded recently as you're going to need to get it aligned anyway.

Its not a hard job, but can be frustrating getting things off/out as they've likely been there for a long time!

Thanks for the reply guys, I will probably get them done by my friend who is a mechanic.

Would you say changing the top mounts and bearings will make a lot of difference?  And i've heard the cuppa bushes are quite hard to fit but are they worth it?

My plan is to lower it and run it on the standard vrs alloys and then lower it a little more when i put the porsche alloys on it.

Thanks

Its more while you've gone to all the trouble of taking the struts off, unless the top mounts are pretty new, its worth replacing them.

Same with the console bushes, old ones are worth replacing while you're there with either Cupra or poly bushes.
