Any know about Gmail?

Featured Replies

Morning all :)

I'm looking for a wee bit of help regarding a Gmail issue, well not really the mail part of Gmail. Im trying to install "lookout" antivirus on my Asus transformer tablet and when I've done the download it asks me for my Gmail password for my Gmail account, when I put it in it says it doesn't match! I've tried resetting the password and starting again but still no joy. Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Kit

why is the antivirus asking you for your gmail password?

I don't know as I don't run a droid tablet, but on my phone, the AV scans, but does not download my mail for me.

I'd be changing the password again and trying a different solution in lieu of concrete reasons to give my security credentials to a 3rd party.

I thinks its also the same as google play, my google play account is linked to gmail...I think!!

AV shouldn't need your login.

Even if it's genuine they're just mining you for future sales.

Try another AV plenty of decent ones out there.

cheers chaps,

Have just downloaded Avast instead and all went smooth and working well :)

yes google play will probably be your gmail account. Watch out for the apps asking for access, check the rights, i.e. in app purchases. They can be a bit hidden in droid land...

It's really a Google account and password you have. That then allows access to Gmail/Play Store/Drive etc etc.

As said, direct password should NEVER be required for that. Make sure you've reset it again

Have reset it again, think as said above it was looking to have details for in app purchases!!! Avast went on no prob at all, I was looking for Malwarebytes but couldn't find it all on Google play!

I dont know the program in question, but I DO have a security program that requires my email address's and passwords, as it downloads and checks the emails header and first 100 lines of code BEFORE the email program sees them - To check for virus/malware etc.

I am not saying the program mentioned is legit, just letting you know it MIGHT be legit.

I've got lookout and dont recall it asking for details.  I think there is an option to create your account using your google+ profile, but if you're doing it via your android device, there will be a popup along the bottom saying to use your gmail credentials or use a different account which will appear over the google login page.  Just hit that instead.

Lookout is a very good app, assuming you downloaded this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout

You can create an account at https://www.lookout.com/

Are you sure kit you dont already have a lookout account?  What if you goto their website above and click forgotten password?
