Replacement engine for a 2008 Octavia Scout

Featured Replies

Hi,

I hope this is not a really dumb question. But I have a 2008 Scout manual with a blown engine, engine code BMM. Engines for VAG cars are a bit hard to find here (NZ) and I'm wondering if there are any possible other engine codes that may be suitable to use. I realise the ECU would need to be changed but would a different engine and ecu (assuming it can be fitted) affect the running of the Haldex? I'm happy to have a little less power if that is the cost for a more reliable engine. I also have a 2005 VW passat with an AWX 1.9TDI that has over 300,000km and never had a problem. Any ideas/suggestions. Thanks

I had my 1.9tdi engine in my octavia replaced couple of months ago due to it blowing up. only did 89k!

Thanks for the feedback. The problem described in the link sounds like what has happened to my car. I'm going to have it assessed for repairing if feasible. I am a new camshaft would be expensive!
