What are the benefits of fitting a EGR delete ? And I also I've heard that if you do fit one the EML comes up on the dash , so what needs to be done to put the light out ?

Best thing to do would be to clean the EGR, that's what I'd recommend.

The EGR does not cause an oily intercooler, the crank case breather does (See oil catch cans/elephant mod). The EGR circulates exhaust gasses back in to the intake to reduce emissions and speed warm up. If you have oil in your parts (ooer), then the soot in the recirculated exhaust gasses sticks to this oil, which more oil sticks to etc. and so leading to the build up of an oily sooty mess in the intake.
