Dimmer & Normal Light Switch In One

Featured Replies

I'm not sure what I'm after even exists, I've tried searching Screwfix, B&Q, eBay etc.

We have a standard double light switch that has a switch for both the landing and the bedroom.

I want to change this so one circuit is on a dimmer, but the other is still a regular on off switch.

I can only seem to find standard switches or double dimmers.

You get the idea below.

Can you not just change to a double dimmer switch?

Leave the one you don't need to dim on full. Just press to turn on & off :)

Problem with that is there is another switch downstairs, and I know it will get dimmed by accident and then I'll get moaned at it's not on full switching on from downstairs :)

Replace that to a dimmer aswell?

I think the easiest solution would be to seperate the double gang switch upstairs into a single dimmer & single switch :)

Unfortunately that's not really possible without digging out for a new backbox and I really don't want to be doing that in a rented house.

I see a Dragons Den moment for you then :)

You and Peter Jones with the new Softscoop lightswitch range :)

Have you looked at modular switches?

Might look a bit industrial but does the job. Try screwfix / RS, the usual suspects.

That's exactly what I'm after :)

+1 on modular switches.  Sadly regs only allow 2 modules per singer box.  I was looking at changing a single box faceplate with 3 switches and making 1 a dimmer, but have to change it to a double socket.

Remote controlled LED bulb?

MK 2 gang grid, a dimmer module, a 2 way switch module and 2 gang faceplate. Job done
