octavia 2012 blackline

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I want to service my octavia,it has 22,000 on the clock it had an oil change at 15,000 miles.I've decide not to go to skoda for a service, and buy the parts myself, and get my friend to do it,who has his own garage.I've decided to get the oil changed, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and fuel filter.Do I need anything else also what's the best oil I can get,and our the parts out of halfords any good.Any info will be great.

Was/is it on variable servicing or has it had other services too? If it was its 1st service at 15k on variable then it should have been a major service, not just an oil change, so it may well be the pollen filter has been changed. Personally I'd buy genuine Skoda parts and either put their oil or the castrol equivelent in.

I'm the second owner,he was the service manager from audi., bought it privately of him, they stamped the book just the oil changed.

I was in Asda today and they are doing Castrol edge 5/30 507.00 for £30.

That so was nice of him not to follow the service routine! Guess as he works for Audi he thought it wasn't worth it. In that case you're doing the right thing giving it a full service. Really good cars for the money, but then I'm biased. If you check out the servicing sectionon Skoda UK's website in the link above it will show what should be done on each service if you need it. Enjoy your new motor.

Thanks guys, seen those oils in asda I know I need 5w_30 but didn't know which one to get.I've still got a litre bottle of castrol edge professional longlife 3 that was in the car when I got it.Does it have to be the same or can i get one of the other castrol edge ones.

I thought all new Skodas came with 3 free services for 3 years/30,000 miles? I got two free ones for mine even at a different garage to the one I bought it from - and for the last one I was substantially over the 30k limit.

It must be a low ash one that meets the correct VW spec, not just any 5w30 will do. vw 507 00 is the correct oil for the cr170 according to my owners handbook.

To get the free servicing the original buyer had to take out vw finance which also contained a £500 contribution from them towards the cost and it was them, not Skoda that gave the free servicing. Skoda gave the vat back on the base price as part of the deal IIRC.
