Headlight and number plate light upgrade - TDI VRS

Featured Replies

Hey all

Apologies that this has probably been done to death but I really could do with some advice so as not to make any mistakes or waste my money. Ok, done a bit of research (don't expect to be spoon fed on here) and as far as I'm aware for me to be able to install HID headlights and not be greeted with an MOT failure I need to meet the following criteria:

1. Auto levelling

2. Washers

These are a tick in the box but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Also, do I need to code them or something? Haven't ever done anything like this before (new to modding) so please bear with the green as the grass attitude :)

Also, my light system is projector type? Does this make a difference with the type of lamp I can install? What do people tend to fit these days?

Finally, looking to fit some 'No Error' LED number plate lights but again, not sure what's compatible with my car.

Thanks

What year is your car? You have projector headlamps anyway. I've just fitted a hid kit to mine. It will need coding with vcds.

It's a 2011 plate TDI VRS facelift. I hear all about this coding thingy but don't have VCD's. I take it I'll need someone to do it for me?

Mine did not fail MOT with HID kit. Levellers and washers need only work IF INSTALLED.

Get the London colour kit as per that thread above and don't look back ;-)
