This morning.....

Recommended Posts

I have had my monte carlo for a little over 4 months and had no problems really in that time....however this morning i tried to start her up whilst i got rid of the ice from the windscreen.....did not like this at all started misfiring and to be honest i thought she wasnt going to start? granted it said -3 on the temp guage but i gave her another go and she managed to turn over but still really lumpy like firing on 3 cylinders anyway to cut a long story short i had to take my little one to nursery and get myself to work 20 miles away. Once the car had warmed up a bit the lumpyness got a bit better but i could still feel it cutting out every now and then and then the glow plug warning light came on and continually flashed about 4 miles into my journey. I have read the manual and it says that i need to get it to a specialist ASAP.

Anyone ever had this happen to them? As stated car has been running fine up until this point.......

Welcome to the forum.

Have you had it for 4 months from new, or was it a pre owned car, if so how many miles.

so i take it is a 1.6 TDI CR.

Did it get mis-fueled yesterday by chance, or filled up with different diesel.

Or driven in lots of wet weather yesterday?

Can you go to a Dealership, or call out Skoda Assist.

It needs Plugged in and Fault Codes checked.

?? Where are you in Scotland?

I dont know whether or not the car is still under warranty so i am looking to find out if i can get it in somewhere for it to be looked at under warranty....

For in Warranty you will need to stick with Skoda, maybe even Thompon Potter / John Clark Group , Burrelton.

But when paying for Services or work yourself,

maybe try.

EDIT.

Maybe just a new Fuel Filter required,

Moisture in the Fuel / Filter & icing up.

Best once running, keep the tank as full as possible in the Winter.

Hello Rickford55

You are not the first, or the last to misfuel!!

I did in my wife's previous MK1 Octavia Tdi , £45 worth of petrol, £200 for the car to be picked up

& tank drained, £55 of the correct fuel - diesel.

Fortunately I only drove 3 miles before realising my mistake.  Yes my mistake, but strangely

I have never been back to the BP station for any fuel petrol or diesel!!

After my mistake I bought a Fuel Angel, this rescricts the fuel tank intake neck size, so putting

petrol nozzles into my wife's Monte Carlo is impossible.

Lesson learned!!

My dad bought his first diesel last year, a VW Tourag lovely motor and first thing he bought for it was a fuel angel. He swears by it..
