Tyre Recommendations (Diesel vRS)

Featured Replies

Nothing like a good tyre war, eh?  :nerd:

Just taken the car into the dealership to to get the exhaust management light looked at, only to be told that I'm down to 2mm on the fronts!  :x

To be fair, I was expecting something like this - I was at 4mm on the fronts at my 10K service (I was a little suspicious that they were hawking tyre sales at the time), and now I'm at 16.5K still on the original Sport Contact 2's. Rears are apparently still OK.

Although I'm tempted to just swap the backs / fronts to give myself an extra 1,000 or so miles (I do mostly motorway miles, apart from a 8 mile daily commute) so I can change all 4 at once since I don't like mixing tyres and I know the Contact 2's are long gone, I'm guessing that would classify me in the "tight wad" category  :D

So, what are people fitting? I dont have winter / summer sets (Yet), so this will be an all-round requirement. Price isnt too much of a concern, as SWMBO works for Stapletons!

I second Goodyears,

I had 225/40/18 Efficeint grips on my Mk1 Octavia VRs, fantastic tyre and a lot quieter than most on the road.

I just ordered a Mk3 Vrs petrol and I know when that comes up for tyre replacement I'll be having Efficeint grips again.

been looking at tyres myself and will be choosing from both above can not decide between them it will come down to how quiet they are...........as continentals are pants!

I had the factory fit Conti SCS2 on the front of my Mk2 vRS replaced with Goodyear F1 Assy2 when they wore out. I'll be doing the same again as and when the time comes to replace the tyres on my Mk3.

Really impressed with how the Goodyears performed.

Well, picked up the car yesterday (broken wiring on the charge cooler if anyone is interested).....

Fronts are 2-3mm, rears are 5mm - Dealer recommended swapping the tyres front to back to get a bit more out of them (about 2K I reckon without pushing it), then change all four,

Thanks for the recommendations - I'll get some pricing on the efficient grips!

bridgestone potenzas - oems on my new tdi. Never driven them before, but so far seem as good as the old Michelin pilot sports I had...

+1 goodyears

had them on E-Class estate very quiet and superb in the wet - will be replacing the dire Michelin HP things asap

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, no doubt.

And I would immediately grab the offer suggested by Chris!
