2011 VRS DSG problems

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Just phoned dealers and its booked in for tomorrow. Have had this happen a fair few times today when pulling away from traffic lights the car lunges uncontrollably and violently ( feels as if you've stamped on brake pedal) then drives off as if nothings happened with no lights on dash. Has started happening since the wheel speed sensor was changed under warranty, can this be connected pr is it just coincidence?

has done it a few times on motorway when dropping down from 7th to 6th too.

Any advice much appreciated

Cheers ben

A wheel speed sensor is used in a few systems on the car like traction control and abs as well as the dsg.

Its just a sensor that looks at the high points on the reluctor ring on the driveshaft and gives a series of pulses to give the ecu an idea what each wheel is doing.

It could well be a duff sensor ir poor cinnection. Often the rings corrode and/or get dirty and people just assume the sensor is gaulty and change it. Could be it needs to be removed and the ring cleaned.

2nd gear is known to have a crap clutch map and is prone to judder when trying to move off briskier - slowly rolling in 2nd and then accelerate, not necessarily trying to beat any acceleration records :).

All other gears in all other conditions must be smooth as silk. Great advice from Wakey I believe worth following.

Cheers guys, took it to dealers today as its still under warranty. So hopefully they will sort it said there is a recall on my gearbox to update it but they said that wont sort its dropping a gear problem

There is no Skoda / VW 'Recall' in the UK but there is a 'Service Campaign',

If there was,  they would 'Recall cars', without people having to be in contact first with problems,

but if the they do the checks properly like other Recalls and Service Campaigns in other World Regions, they will check and maybe replace

the Mechatronics Control Unit & do the Oil change and ECU Update.

No UK Recall.

http://dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls

** THERE IS A RECALL NOW ON SOME NEWER 2011-14 1.2 55 kw DIESEL FABIA & ROOMSTERS.**

Maybe ask them why when the other work was being done on the wheel sensor under warranty they never identified the DSG Service Campaign work was required, the Service Campaign started May 2014,

and it should come up when a car is in at a Dealership and the Service Desk put the vehicles details into the Skoda System.

Sounds like it could be the mechatronics from reading that. I will wait and see what dealers say. Will keep this thread updated

Had the car back just under a week and done 300 miles, seems to be fine so far so fingers crossed. They updated some software on the ecu so we shall see

?

Was it the 'DSG Service Campaign' that they did, (launched from May 2014 on some of the DQ200 Gearboxes)

changing the Synthetic Oil for Mineral and Updating the Software / ECU,

and did the write this in the Service Book and put a sticker in the boot?

Not sure if they did will check when i get it back. It got collected this morning as when i was pulling on to the M6 in s mode building up speed at around 50mph in S3 it planted the nose to the floor like engine braking and decelerated by itself to aprox 25mph and the poor person behind me nearly went in to the arse of the car. So i think its safe to say i will not be taking the car back until they find what is wrong. Ive got a 64 plate 1.2tsi octavia as a courtesy ohh joy of joys.

That sounds like the deceleration problems suffered by many people in Australia due to faulty DSG

Yeah ive had a look at that think it was due to mechatronics and there was a recall. Either way I'm not taking car back until they can swear its fixed

That sounds like a nightmare situation, i agree, i would not feel safe taking the car out until it was 100% fixed.

Known problem, known solution, there's no beating around the bush here, you need a new DSG/Mechatronic

I hope thats what it comes down to the dealers have sent off all the info to skoda uk to diagnose it. Getting fed up now this is the 5th day now theve had my car

Patience is the virtue to aim for. That coupled with persistence delivers replacement gearbox :)

So skoda phoned me today, saying i need to collect my car as there is nothing wrong with it...... I said i wont take it until they can prove its safe. So after going up through the management chain they said they will keep it for another week an do more mileage on it. They wont say its safe they just say they cant find a fault. Talked to CAB they said i should speak to my finance company as its on HP. I have no idea what to do now any suggestions much appreciated

From George

" I take it it is a Skoda Dealership calling him and not SKODA UK Customer Services

who know they have a Corporate Responsibility since they did no Recall and are not changing

Mechatronics Control Units,

or possibly even checking them, but Sub Contraction Skoda Dealerships

to do a half arse preventative Service Campaign.

Which the Dealer & Skoda obviously missed when the car was in for the previous Warranty

work.

Skoda UK needs to get the car checked by a Qualified Master Technician or Specialist.

or get it to Milton Keynes.

Hope it helps.

You need to go to Skoda like now and get it sorted with them directly

Bezzard, is that your car in your pic. If so can you post some up as it looks great.

Back on topic, mine did a similar thing and the ECU update cured it. Have done 5k now and not done it since. I was hesitant at first once I got it back but now I have started to 'trust' it wont do it again.

I will get on phone to them tomorrow, i have now sent a email to my HP company explaining the situation see if they can help with the proceedings. As i was advised by CAB that its finance company i need to deal with. But want it sorted asap either way.
