Yeti engine noise at 2800rpm

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

We recently purchased a Yeti 1.2 TSi (2012) and I must say it's a fantastic car!

I just have one question to ask if I may and it's regarding engine noise.  When the car is cold, there is a noticeable difference in engine sound as it passes 2800.  I can rev the car (not high) and at 2800 it changes to a kind of grrrr/wine.

I thought this might be the turbo, but after driving 15+ miles it goes.  No engine lights are on and it drives superbly.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Dom

Hmmm. I have a 2012 1.2 TSi and there is no difference in the character of engine noise as it revs up. The engine will be fully warmed up well before 15 miles so I should get it checked by the garage that you bought the car from. The only difference in engine noise I have rarely noticed is that when it is very cold there can be a very slight rattle from the timing chain for the first 30 seconds - but that is all.
