Is my blower fan kaput?

Featured Replies

I've seen a number of threads on here relating to failing heating in the Fabia, but none that appear to resemble my exact situation. So here goes.

I have an 04 model, 2.0 litre petrol Fabia. Up until recently the blower fan would work on all four settings - now it works on none. Prior to the fan packing up, the heating would be a bit binary - stone cold on lowest setting, blistering hot when the temperature dial was moved one or two notches.

Here's what I've done:

- checked the pollen filter is clean

- change the heater blower resistor (the old one didn't look obviously bad)

- checked all the fuses

The air con still appears to work OK, as does the recirc switch.

My conclusion is that the fan itself is end of lie. But does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hmmm, looking likely as setting 4 the resistor is simply doing nothing and the fan should simply blow as fast as it really can. :)

I have a spare furby fan - The one from behind the glovebox.  I think they are all the same but mine is from a 2.0 elegance as well.

Thanks for the reply.

Would you be willing to part with your spare fan? For a fee of course!

If you twist my arm. :D

Sorry, just checked and mine is actually a mk1 Octavia / mk4 GOlf one.

I have no idea whether they're the same in Fabias but when the blower in my Felicia (which looks a bit like a water wheel iirc) stopped working, just taking it all apart, cleaning contacts/brushes and putting it back together fixed it.
