Marshall89's project thread

Featured Replies

So I picked the car up today and am very pleased so far. It's a 2 owner car with 88k and a full skoda history. I plan to update this thread as I go along and let the pics do the talking. Hopefully you guys will like the changes!

Dirty and faded..

After I had heat gunned all the black plastic and sprayed the front grill surround. New front badge ordered.

Exhaust cleaned and tow bar removed.

Moving forward I'm going to be fitting a front splitter, lowering the suspension (not decided which route to go yet as I'm sick of smashing along the floor in previous cars but the arch gap is ridiculous!) and changing the wheels to something a little better than the stock 16's. I will post some more pics tomorrow when I have had chance to detail it a little more!

Yes rise of the wagons/estates

Nice, I do like a sporty wagon.

Very nice, I've just bought myself a mk1 vrs estate. I was thinking about colour coding the front bumper stripes as I've seen a few and it does make for a slightly more modern look IMO. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours progresses.

Put my front splitter on today and my aero wipers. Needs a clean...

Did you get retro fit aero blades or the whole arms? If retrofit how's the passenger side? I embarked on this a while ago but the passenger side just doesn't sit right or touch the glass properly so doesn't wipe. Went back to standard curved Bosch but would love to find one that works.

Braved the weather to get a few snaps earlier. Some effect editing later I think I got some cool shots...

Looks smart

Are they 18's ? If so I wouldn't lower too much

The more I look at the bumper with the Capra splitter on the more I want to add one to mine instead of just the corner splitters

WHAT PART NUMBER DID YOU USE ON THE BADGES AS FIT WELL

Coilovers are now fitted, unfortunately I had to sell the wheels off as they didn't fit with the wider struts on the front. 8.5j and an et of 38 was pushing it anyway so I'm back on the standard 16" spiders for now. Also black wrapped by b pillars which looks really smart in my opinion. Just rear tints and wheels to get and then I will be reasonably happy with it.

Looking good front needs to go a tad lower or the back needs raising

this looks awesome.. can you tell me more about heat gunning the trim?  do you treat it after heating? how much heat etc? i'm getting my brothers VRs next week and want to give it a good going over..

Hmm a bit too low for me - get some 17s also.

Bbs ch style wheels went on today. Still need to tweak the ride height a bit but overall I'm pleased with how it's coming on. Needs a wash but was blowing a gale. Next up is rear tints I think.

Hi mate,

I just gently went over the trim with the gun on a medium heat and then went over it afterwards with autoglym bumper and trim gel. You can see the trim change colour as it warms up. You're basically melting it slightly so be careful not to overdo it.

Thanks, will give it a go.. I had thought about colour coding, but not sure.. saw a red one coded at a car show at the weekend, it looked good..
