Mapping, west midlands

Featured Replies

I've recently bought a VRS, it's done 125k on an 04 plate.

What would you guys recommend doing before having it mapped? FMIC?

It has a barry boy dump valve as it is. :(

Also where's good that isn't going to rip me off.

Thanks

Rob

Put an OEM Diverter valve on & check for boost/vacuum leaks. There's a lot of pipework around the inlet manifold that are notorious for splitting & leaks. Also check with your local Skoda dealer to see if your coilpacks are covered by the VAG replacement campaign.

Shark Performance for a remap.

Go and see Nick at R-tech in Hinkley for mapping.

Stage 1? Health check and service. Check out coils as mentioned above, check plugs for condition, possibly upgrade but gap to 0.7 is most important thing. Don't need any upgrades as such for stage 1, panel filter might be nice but it's up to you. Health is the most important thing at this stage. You may find with increased torque you need to improve handling if it's not done already, you don't need to go nuts though, I've just done front braces and rear roll bar at the moment and is pretty nice. Stage 2 then yeah, fmic, sports cat/exhaust, cold air induction etc. CAI will also help a stage 1 car, I've put a 3" pipe into my airbox from below headlight, goes well.
