F204 and G402

Featured Replies

I have two error codes that appear every 3 months or so, which are F204 and G402.

F204 is the tensioning strut stowed, and G402 is the sunroof motor position sensor - I don't even have a sunroof!

Any idea's what these codes mean?

What are you using to obtain these codes?

Did it not produce a 5 figure number code as well?, as I can find no reference to those codes as they are now.

I did have a situation when my neighbour had odd codes, but he was using a generic scanner which generated odd codes that VCDS interpreted differently, but you are using a VAG specific unit.

To be honest, if nobody else comes up with code help, I would get the system scanned with vcds, or contact the scanner manufacturer for help, as you may be experiencing the same thing as my neighbour.

Hope you get it sorted,

Phil.

I think it maybe p0196 and p0441 which was from a few months ago.

The generic code readers tend to only give half a story rather than the full picture, it could even be misreporting codes.

P0196 Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Range/Performance.

P0441 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16825/P0441/001089

Nothing to do with sunroof motors, or tensioning strut stowed (have no clue what that even means.

The EML came on again, anyone any idea's what the resolution would be for the codes?

Have you had the oil temp sensor or the EGR valve replaced yet? since the EML could be caused by one of those.
