I am trying to fit a tow bar to 2001 Octavia estate. I had a kit for Oct / VW / etc. It tells me to remove the black plastic trim in the rear of the boot, and then to undo 10 self tappers..... however I can't see any!!

Also says to remove 5 screws in each wheel arch and a few underneath - that I can see.

Any one fitted one - any tips?

You need to remove the trim in the boot. In addition to the wheelarch liner fixings, the bumper fixing self tappers are located on the underside of the bumper (lie under the car and look up) and across the back (kneel down behind the car and look at the rear bumper) there is a central piece of trim which pulls off (adjacent to the lock catch), with screws underneath and below each rear light there is a plastic trim. Undo the fixing screws and slide them towards the centre of the car, do not pull them. There are also two 10mm bolts either side which are undone from within the boot. When all the fixings are removed the bumper cover should pull off, however there are two clips one on each corner which can be tight when the bumper is removed.

I am recounting this from memory and is not a definitive step by step guide, but you will get the general idea of how they hide all these things.

Cheers.... that did the trick. Took a while to the bumper back on, as the new metal assembly stuck out a little far initially.... but job done in the end.

Also took the chance to remove the changer as I don't use it!
