Air hose off filter box

Featured Replies

SWMBO mentioned that her car was making a "funny roaring noise" which made me sit up, because most of the time she could be driving it with four flat tyres and not notice!

Did a test drive and at 3000 revs with right foot down there was an almightly noise and vibration from under the dash. Looked under the bonnet and the big air hose down to the inlet manifold had come off the spigot on the side of the filter box. We got it back on OK (she squeezed the grips on the clip while I pushed it back on) but I'm wondering if this is a common thing?

Its a 1.2 HTP in 69ps form (one of the bargain 25% off SE models from 2013). It's had one minor service but not sure if they would have changed the air filter then.

Any ideas?

If you are saying the air hose came off the filter box exposing the engine to potentially unclean air, then make sure you check inside the air filter box to make sure the filter is still dry. If it isn't you can get problems with the injectors especially if the airbox has sucked in too much water from a rainy day drive. It can even affect the fuel pump. So do check.
