Revs problem linked to electrics

Featured Replies

Hi guys hope you can help me. Currently im having couple of problems with my car and i think the are both related. when my car is started and is idling the lights flicker in the dash, if i turn on the interior lights they flicker too and the headlights. The other problem i am also getting is when i am stationary and rev my car up to 2.5k revs and hold it, the revs fluctuate. this actually happens at any rev band i hold it on. if i switch my headlights on the revs fluctuate more quicker, up and down. you can hear it in the engine too so its having a direct effect on the car. I have changed the battery but it has not helped. and it has a new alternator too. Im stumped i cant think of anything else that is causing this. i believe the problem is electrical. but where shall i look?

Thank you :)

Check with a multimeter what voltage the alternator is putting out at idle, when revving and post them here, should be able tp work out a possible cause
