Help! Passenger side rear door stuck shut :(

Featured Replies

Hi I've had a bit of a search through but just want to be sure there's no better way of trying to open the door before I start searching for a new door card to replace the current one once I've ripped it off.

O/H replaced the door lock mech in my Mum's 03 plate Ocy Elegance last weekend as it had been intermittently playing up.

Anyway removed and replace the motor without any problems and all was working until a few days ago... now the door won't open at all :(

I have a feeling it's to do with the cables attached to the interior and exterior handles as 1st the interior stopped working and then the exterior stopped the next day.

I'm kinda clutching at straws here but is there any other way to get the door open or door card off without breaking anything? (long shot, I know)

Cant you carefully remove the rubbers on the door by the window and look down with a torch to see whats going on and use the coathanger trick?

It's worth a try!!!

im trying to remember how the catches work but I am sure an amount pr pushing ans pulling of the mechanism where the wires hook on to it will do the trick. Its probablty a wire popped off the handle or the crommet on the sheathing not located properly I reckon if you have had it off before? I had a similar think on my MK1 drivers door when I replaced that.

Yeah that's what I'm hopping after reading a few other threads about door mechs.

Finger crossed it doesn't involve breaking things!

For the inside door handle, in my experience it is the outer part of the cable has pulled out of its location when refitting the door card. If you can grab the outer of the cable firmly (coat hanger trick?) and take out all the slack, then the inner handle should work so you can open the door.

Thank u!

We'll give that ago this evening and let you know if we have any luck!

Yeah that outer end cap that that slots into the handle can pop out easily if not seated properly. It does sound like a cabling issue at one end or another. The little bit with the teeth for the exterior handle which you'd have prised out to do the mech also has to be clicked back in to the same teeth to give enough pull. Try re situate that when you get the door open.

I had the child locks on when the O/S rear door refused to open, neither internal or external handles opens door, When unlocking car with central locking system the buttons on all the other doors pop up but not O/S rear!

The glow light on the window switch of the above door is on whether or not the car lights are on.

Any suggestions will be appreciated,.
