Whats am i missing?

Featured Replies

Another newbie to more than just car wash / polishing since getting the Black vRS Oct 3, hence I'm just building some gear but feel I maybe missing something?

Currently I have accumulated (and applied some of) the following;

'Hardware'

Nilfisk E140 jet wash

UF snow foam lance

Products

Gtechniq G1/G2/G4 glass polish / repellent

Valet pro PH neutral snow foam

Power maxed concentrate TFR (not tried yet but planning to mix small amount with foam as other thread)

Meguiars Gold Class shampoo (had been using Autoglym shampoo but run out now)

Poorboys blackhole glaze

Poorboys Natty paste wax blue

Gtechniq C2V3 (am I correct in thinking this can be diluted with distilled or de-ionised water, as I found I was 'chasing' it around the car!?)

G3 body prep shampoo

Gtechniq W6 Iron and fallout remover

Consumables

Bilt Hamber wash mitt

Farecla G3 clay mitt (not used yet)

Various MF towels/cloths/applicators.

I've not used the G3 mitt or shampoo yet as I just 'got some protection on' a month or so back with the poorboys and C2V3 but  was thinking of 'starting over' as the car hasn't been clayed/decontaminated and will be 6 months at March with 8k miles on it. The poorboys seems good but do I need a sealer on top of the natty paste and combination with C2V3 or is this considered an LSP (although I don't know what this means exactly?).

I need to buy some proper '2 buckets' with grit guards, some kind of tyre dressing (meguiars?), and something to protect/seal the wheels (standard vRS ones - will the natty paste do this?) - any advice on these products?

Sorry loads of questions, just wondering if I'm missing anything vital in products or regime?

Cheers

Jamie

Gtechniq C2V3 - I think you apply this so it acts as a QD when diluted, ie after you have done all of the above and are simply doing a maintenance wash. Can apply neat as a sealant before you apply wax I believe.

Hey buddy,

I would clay, then apply your Black hole, then your Natty's Wax.

C2v3 will sit over anything buddy, but with reduced durability. As Thisday says, dilute some down 2:1 with water and use as a top up on your paintwork. But put some neat C2v3 to one side and seal your wheels with it. It isn't massively durable on wheels but it is easy to apply every month or so. Just be aware, it doesn't like being applied to a hot surface, as I found out to my despair!

Meguiars endurance tyre gel is good pal, and readily available at Halfords.

Hope this answers your questions buddy, if you've got any more, just fire away!

With regards to the Tyre Gel...I would suggest you don't put it on too thickly...it has a tendency to `fling`.

Or you could use a `trick` advised br Chris, namely go over it with a hair dryer...really works.

Yeah the Megs endurance tyre gel is good stuff, I don't get any fling with it either.

You might want to pop down to Exmouth to have a look at my huge stash and get some ideas.  ;)  I can see a few gaps from a professional's point of view, but looks pretty decent for a hobby'ist collection.

Cheers for all the input guys - so will look out the meg endurance gel (but will go steady with it) - they only had the applier pads at halfords Plymouth when I looked, but will look online or in Exeter halfords.

As for c2v3 will try a bit diluted in separate sprayer, and keep neat for wheels.

Just need a nice day and to off load swmbo and the 2 month and 3 year old somewhere now! Lol

Thanks Jason, I'll give you a shout / pm hopefully soon when I can plan to get away - or at least drop her and kids off somewhere, maybe at Darts. Could do with asking you about this vcds thing also.

Cheers

I personally love C2v3 neat on paint too. Slick to the touch, durability isn't too bad either.

Thumbs up for another darts lad on here!

No worries

Tomorrow I have an Audi Q5 with me all day if you want to see roughly how I go about it too. :D

Sunday I'll be doing bits on my project Focus using the same gear,

Thanks Jason, will probably be a week or two before I can pop down. When we lived in Exeter used to come down your way a lot (with my escort RS turbo) but we're a bit further out now on Dartmoor. Will drop you a line when I might be able to get way.

Ha, ha, darts is a farm shop place near us. But I did use to through a few arrows back in the day (I was team captin but not very good at throwing!) but now limited to watching it on the box as pub is a distant memory.

haha, now I feel like a fool!
