started having problems starting from cold ,changed temperature sender ,heater plugs fuel filter only seems to happen when temperature falls under 0 if car started then runs okay all day no problems when first started puff of white smoke for

a few minutes than okay chanced fuel filter and oil and filters  i want to fit a non return valve to fuel line going to filter can anybody tell me what is the diameter of internal pipe is it 8mm or 10 mm as i think if left more than 12 hours fuel is

returning to tank and does anybody know if can fit a inline priming pump like the citroen on line from the feed going into fuel filter thank you in advance .

Have you checked the timing/synchro angle? Was the coolant temp sensor genuine VAG? Has it been checked for fault codes?

Fix the problem, not the symptoms.

the coolant temperature sender is not genuine disconnected last week when had trouble starting heater plugs stayed on for longer but the car would not start just near zero temperature what way do you check the timing /syncro angle thank you in advance and what is the

genuine coolant temperature part number for my car thank you .

You need VCDS/Vagcom to check the timing/synchro angle. If it's been a long time since the cambelt was last changed it'll have stretched a bit, which will put the timing out.

Coolant temp sensor pn 059919501. (green dual sensor).

i have vcds fully registered can somebody post procedure is 110 bhp 19.tdi    2000 year 130000 on clock and one owner from new had the car 6 months .also what should be the reading from the temperature sender .

Go into engine measuring blocks, the timing/synchro should be within + or - 0.5. Temp when fully warmed up should be about 90c.

does anybody have a diagram of fuel hoses from tank to engine as i want to fit a non  return valve to fuel line and is the internal diameter of pipe 8 or 10 mm, as the morning which was not starting a did put a inline hand primer and there was not fuel coming up from tank thank you i will check the timing /syncro with vcds and post later .

You need to use the timing checker on the old injection pump diesels. Thee is a how to on the Ross Tech Wiki. The engine needs to be up to temperature.

Is the coil light staying on the right amount of time? With the CTS disconnected it should stay on for about 8 seconds IIRC. If the 109 relay is faulty it can cause starting problems. Does it ever stall randomly?
