Wow that was a PITA

Featured Replies

Helped out another Briskodian today fitting a DTUK tuning box to his TSI vRS, OMG that boost pressure sensor is a Biatch of a place to get to.

Makes a real big difference to way it drives I'm glad to say but, I didn't expect to have to put the car on jacks to take the engine tray off just to get to a sensor and anybody tell you you can get to it from above, their having a giraffe.  But, the Aberlour gratefully received has gone down real smooth, I dunno HOW much better it went, it was my first time in a TSI vRS but, the owner had way more than a £400 smile on his face.

Enjoy my friend.

Yea, it's a right pain! I went to a mate that owns a garage and he put it on a ramp to pull the tray etc.

I would love such an upgrade but I just can't risk it with the leasing company and such.

I agree that the increased fun-factor must far outweigh the actual costs :).

This is one of the reasons I went the ecu remap route, however either way, box or remap, it does add a huge smile to ones face after instal  :D  :D  :D

Took me less than 5 mins, at minus two, at 2000hrs in the dark the other night to fit mine to the TDi..... interesting that the tsi is so much different guys.

The TDI is just 2 channel (boost plus fuel rail pressure).

The TSI is 3 channel (Manifold, boost and crank position). The boost is right down at the bottom of the engine bay where the pipe work is making its way to/from the intercooler and the turbo, whereas the TDI boost is easy to get to at the top.

The other slight problem with this sensor is that you have no line of sight on the connector plug stop clip type as its only 60-70mm of the back of the intercooler at a 30 degree angle hence, its a bit of an uncomfortable fumble, its ok with the soft plastic of a new car but, older/harder plastic may well cause some breakages.  The drizzle didn't help either but, it got  done and seems to be working well.

Slight development news, Andrew had installed two new maps on this box, which the owner says are "magical" read into that what you will, these new maps will be generallly released in a couple of weeks.

DTUK Andrew, any comment on these two new maps ?

I'm gonna get the new map put on my box for the S1 too. Was talking to Andrew yesterday :)
