Debadge letter stain removal

Featured Replies

Hi all, did a bit of a search but would like some confirmation please. I debadge the octavia bit from my rear and there is a staining where the letters were. Weird thing is it's kind of orange, anyway upshot is it's slightly visible, I've read megs scratch x would be good for the removal, any other options? I don't have a machine so will be done by hand. I tried everything in my box including clay bar.

Cheers

Has all of the glue residue been removed? If so then Gtechniq P1 Polish is one of the best polishes to use by hand. Can you borrow a machine polisher as it may need a bit more elbow grease than P1.

Hopefully the adhesive hasn't etched the paint. I have seen this on Fabias before but not octys.

Yeah all the glue is off, at least I think so, feels smooth but maybe there was a faint residue which picked up some colouring from the clay bar and cleaning spray? Not sure if I can get my hands on a machine, doubtful.

From memory, when I debadged my VXR, I used the claybar and tar remover (not together obviously), then polished the area by hand.  You could never tell it had been there afterwards.

Did that, I think the yellow pigment may be intolerant of contaminants? It got better but can still just see it, if you're looking for it, but I know it's there now so gota get rid. Worse comes to worse I'll re badge it, shame though as it looks nice. I looked at the P1 stuff, looks worth a try for sure.

Could well have. I've tried P1, albeit by hand and couldn't get through it. When I get some spare pennies I'll swing by a bodyshop and see what they can do. Failing that I'll be rebadging, at least it will be clean around the letters!

I'm sure someone local must have a DA & be able to help you out.

I've put a shout out, will see what happens, I'm in the sticks a little bit so fingers xd.

Debadged the daughters car last year but found that the badge once removed had affected the paint under the top coat and no amount of polishing would fix it.
