Common Fault

Featured Replies

I heard this was a common fault and id like some guidence if anyone can help please :notme:  ...

My temprature light flashes when the car is cold then as soon as its warm if i turn the car off and on it dissapears ... my coolant level is correct and the car obviosly isnt overheating immediatly.

I heard this is a common fault with the sensor on top of the expansion tank ... can someone help and tell me weather this sensor is my problem and if it is then how to fit a new one as it looks like it all wired in with the main loom, not a clip on sensor.

So would i have to snip the wires and solder on a new one or it a loom problem?

Someone help please, The 3 beeps everyday are getting quite annoying haha! :dull:

Cheers!

Replace the expansion tank sensor is built into it.

Unplug the plug on your expansion tank and stick a paper clip in it across the terminals on the plug not on the bottle ..... Then check see if your lights gone off if it has your sensors faulty in bottle so new bottle time or just leave paper clip in like I did on my mates old knacker golf

What if the paper clip does not stop the warning light? The wiring to earth is good. What should the supply voltage be? I would expect 12V which I am not getting so thinking I may have a dodgy wire from the instrument panel... I have tried three expansion tanks with no success.

Then youve got a wiring fault not a faulty sensor all the paper clip does is bypass the level sensor if the rest of the circuit is all good .... Yh id say it should be running 12v aswell .... Wiring needs tracing back to find the potential fault ...
