Rounded Torx screw

Featured Replies

So, i was trying to remove the T50 torx srews that hold the seat to the rail as im trying to install one of those under seat compartment thingys and unfortunately I've rounded the screws...anyone have any ideas as to how to get this bloody thing out?

pretty annoyed at the moment

Can you get a hacksaw blade in and cut a slot, then use a flat bade screw driver?

A bigger torx screw (or Allen key) and a hammer may work

I once managed to get one out using a slightly bigger tx head, but that TX 9 vs 10, I'm not sure if the next one up from 50 is small enough to fit.

IF we're talking barrel head set screws rather than flat head or cheesehead, then you might get a genuine Mole brand straight-jaw toggle grip on the head.

You probably rounded it because those tend to be spline bolts, not torx, which are different things altogether

Maybe a thought for the future

It's a torx screw

It's a torx screw

They must have changed then, both my Fabia and Octavia are both spline bolts, my apologies

I would try and use a better branded one like dormer though as if you snap it off then you will be even worse off.

Could you get a centre punch to the side of the torx fitting and use that to undo it

Make sure your torx bits are quality too. I often use an impact driver to crack them loose.
