Rattling!

Featured Replies

Hi all! At the risk of a comment such as 'what do you expect from a skoda', I could do with some help. There is an unbearable rattle which seems to be coming from the passenger door. ive recently noticed as I've took my sub out, the bass from the sub had been disguising/hiding the rattle but now it's sending me crazy! Don't want to go to the dealer for something so tedious, however I'll have to if I can't sort it, I'm going mad!

Door card rattling against the door.  My drivers side does it.  I've only just figured out where it was coming from and the temporary fix is to slide a piece of cardboard between the door card and the metal of the door about half way down at the back edge of the door.  I'm looking for some thin adhesive foam as a permanent fix

Interesting!

Reckon putting dynamat in would help?

Also been informed that a wire/cable rests on the inside of door card. Still not got round to it. There is a tutorial somewhere on here about a fabia being sound proofed with carpet underlay (think it was this used) and he mentions nearly all the rattle locations and it is a very useful guide.

After 18 months of ownership you learn to ignore these little rattles.

Isn't dynamat rather thick? I'm looking for something between 250 and 500 microns when compressed.

Just had a search on this.

Seems to vary but between 1mm and 2mm thick.

I levered  out the door pull and electric window switch and looked down inside, the cables were resting against the door card in places but whenever I whacked the door card to cause the rattle they move in time with the door card as they're attached to things like the electric window switches which are in turn attached to the door card.

Unless it compresses a lot then it's going to be way too thick.

It does have a rubbery back so it might compress a little, but probably not that much, no
