72mpg - maxidot lies

Featured Replies

Yes I know it lies, but I am still pleased with figures for my FL 2.0 110bhp diesel manual.

Recent trip from Southend-on-sea in Essex to Southport, Merside showed a high of 69.6mpg, coming back 72.6mpg, overal including a 100 miles of running about it was 67.3mpg.

Admittedly I drove it like a vicar as the traffic was busy, so climate on and radio 4 + ipod helped the journey. I kept to a satnav 50/55mph just to see what it would do. Interestingly a typical run on this journey takes 5 to 5 1/2 hrs, and that is exactly what it took me.

The brim to brim fill up recorded 65.58mpg, so it was worth the experiment.

That's very good.  But alas life's too short for me to have to behave like a vicar when driving. I love the 140's shove so poke it very often...  resulting in my dismal fuel consumption. Oh well. One pays for pleasures in life.
