Fuel light = 7 Litres left?

Featured Replies

Am i right in thinking that there is approx 7 litres left when the fuel light comes on? (Fabia vRS)

If so, then how many more steady miles am i good for when this warning sounds?

I have realised already that the trip computer for 'miles left' can't be relied upon

Thanks in advance forumites! :)

I think thats roughly 7 litres yes. And it depends on where you drive, short, long, slow, quick etc that determines how many miles you will get. But normal driving expect 50ish.

If it helps, a gallon is roughly 4.55 litres.

I've done 60 miles 'on the light' driving at 70ish mph - no faster for sure. I was trying to conserve fuel though - I wouldn't recommend completely running on empty anyway as you may get crud from the tank going into the filter etc, I know it's meant to filter it out, but it's still best if it doesn't have to.

If you go for it it wont be too great ;)

Yeah! fuel light bingo baby!

How far do you dare to go?

Think 60 miles on the light was about the limit I'd go for - :D

my fuel light always pops on about 60 miles to pump. pushed it out to 84.3 last week and was still going. does anyone know if the engine has top be primed if it runs dry and is ther en easy way?

never had the balls to go long enough to run dry, had the needle below the lowest marker though

Mine said 55 miles when it bleeped and the light came on. Took me by surprise. 55miles is a bit premature I think !!

hey guys i did 115 miles with the fuel light on, was doing 58mph in 6th doing 70mpg lol!!

god i love the furby VRS!!!

I ran my Clio dry. And it was just fuel in and start her up. That was petrol mind, I'd guess most engines are ok these days. But no guarentees.

on the light i can usually get 70 ish miles out of it then about another 50 ish when it reads 0 miles left

I dare not run more than five miles when it reads zero but this is good to know

well its easy to tell when it hits zero fill up to the top :) then the difference between tank size and the amount you put in gives you the amount left so you can work out how many miles it will do

I think the pump will cut out before that happens. So all you need to do is refill and off you go.

Though dont hold me to it.

Just filled mine up, about 4 miles after light came on and it took 38.99 lits so seems pretty acurate. Just for info it did 360 miles to get to that which worked out at 41.95, mainly around town so it seems pretty good.

45 litre tank and lowest i had it was 3litres left that was after about 15 after 0

I've had 0 miles on the computer and it took almost exactly 43 litres, so assumption is 2 litres when it tells you it's dry. How far that'll get you depends on driving style I guess. As stated, as cars age they get cr*p in the tanks which can harm your car (though diesels invariably have much better filtering systems before the fuel enters the engine).

Hi

Got 48 LTS in my last fill up which includes the expansion tank....

I alway`s press the tit in the filler neck several times ...... if you

listen carefully you can hear the air escaping

I use shell diesel currently 95.9p :(
