Skoda Fabia 1.4 tdi not starting without throttle.

Featured Replies

Arite folks,

Recently serviced my fabia, and everything was fine until last night.

Car wouldn't start without applying throttle, it cranks and cranks until doing so. There doesn't appear to be any air lock but i could be wrong?

Can anyone shed some light?

Cheers,

When you say Serviced, what have you actually done and replaced.

Just oils and filters

If you changed the Fuel filter, are you positive you have re-connected the pipes correctly, if not it won't be pumping fuel to the engine.

On the Oil filter, did you also ensure that the bottom rubber 'O' ring was fitted.

Ye fuel filters plumbed up correctly. Also oil filter 'O' ring was fitted.

I did however find a small crack on the outlet line of the filter, so i recon this had been drawing air into the system.

Ive now sorted this line but still not firing until throttle is applied. i now think theres air in the system and not getting enough fuel through to the injectors until throttles applied? car then runs fine.

How do i bleed the system? Or does anyone know what else it could be?

Cheers.

Maybe worth trying to reset the ECU, switch everything off, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, then without touching the brake or clutch pedal see if it starts, if it does then leave it idling for 30 minutes to rest everything.

Good luck.
