Brake lights staying on

Featured Replies

Lads the brake lights on my vrs won't switch off. Keys out of ignition and car locked and still staying on.. Anyone had this before?

With ignition off is a bit odd but got to be a faulty switch. Have a reach up to the switch above the pedal arm and see if you can push it in which should be lights off. Not seen these switches yet but on my ex partners lupo she kept catching it somehow which would leave the switch out so lights were on. Reach up and have a fiddle. Bit of a shot in the dark from me I'm afraid, sure someone can be more specific.

mine done this too, stayed on when key removed and locked, I took out the fuse over night until I got chance to look at it, popped fuse back in and replaced switch next day and all back to normal

I just disconnected battery but will pick up a switch tomorrow. Is there much involved in changing the switch?

I had this on my mkII and it was caused by the the rear washer pipe leaking all over the electrical connectors in the boot.

push in and twist is all there is to it, just make sure you DONT push the brake peddle down when fitting new one
