Hi All,

2012 Estate Elegance

Had the car 2 weeks and the Fuel Flap wont open, is this a common occurrence and is there a quick fix?

Thanks

Daft question, have you made sure the car is unlocked? Some people drive around with their doors locked for safety reasons, and if you then open the drivers door to get out at the petrol station forecourt using only the internal drivers door handle, all other doors remain locked, including the petrol flap.

A few people have mentioned this on here before.

It can be a common fault (if its not related to SuperbBarto's point above).  I've had it on Octavias before where the mechanism had to be replaced.

Just in case you didn't know, if you press the fuel flap door against its spring whilst operating the central locking (with the remote) it will usually unlock the flap.

You may need several attempts, with different amounts of effort. Half of the flap's available in/out movement is probably best the position to try to unlock it.

Not a fix! But buys you some time (months?)

It seems to be a common issue, I think someone posted that a replacement part is about £15-20.

The auto lock feature unlocks all doors and filler flap when you open the drivers door.
