Has anybody removed the panel underneath the steering wheel?

Featured Replies

I've just bought an external antenna for my TomTom Go. It's magnetic, so it stuck itself quite happily to the vent for demisting the windscreen, but it comes with mountains of cable, which I need to hide.

The route I'm thinking of involves running the wire along the base of the windscreen, round the side by the A pillar, through the compartment where the fuses are, and then under the steering wheel to pop out by the centre console.

To do this I'd need to remove the big panel under the steering wheel (above the pedals). Has anyone done this? Is it just a matter of loosening the two screws? Any advice welcome!

Also, if you've got a TTG with an external antenna in your Octy II - how have you dealt with the wire - is there a better way?

Cheers

I ran the power cable for my B2 under there, just loosened the screws and popped the cable in no problem at all!

Didn't need to remove it after all!! Pushed one end of the cable into the gap between the panel and the centre console, fed it through, past the steering column. You can then (with a bit of jiggling) push it straight through into the compartment where the fuses are.

Fed the other wire round the bottom of the windscreen, round the A pillar, and into the fuse box compartment at the top. Taped up the spare cable and pushed it into the area next to the fuses, joined the two wires and hey presto!

Thats what I like to see, proper job :D:thumbup:
