TyreLeader.co.uk - too good to be true?

Featured Replies

I noticed the front tyres on the Octavia 3 vRS were running low on tread - so started looking around.

I was recommended some Hankook K120 V12 Evo2's from Black Circle - Better grip, less noise and better fuel economy than the Continental Sports Contact 2's currently on there.

So I did some online shopping and found this place.

http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/hankook/k120-v12evo2/225-40-zr18-92y-268647

OK -they are not fitted, but a saving of £30 per tyre on delivery - I can then pop round to any garage and have them fit them for less than £60.

I did some more googling - and some other sites state that the ratings are different form the one on Tyre Leader - So I thought I'd give them a ring -but they are in Germany.

Now - I they state Free delivery 48hr / 72hr - From Germany??

The usual common sense kicks in "if it's too good to be true, it usually is".

Has anyone used www.tryeleader.co.uk in the past - are they reputable?

DNS registration for this site is someone in Paris - Yet more alarm bells...

opinions?

I've just ordered 4 Nankang NS-2R in 225/40/18 from Tirendo, also based in Germany

Free delivery, and less than £80 each

Camskill wanted £95 each plus delivery and weren't prepared to price match

Just had email notification with DPD tracking numbers, so all seems above board

If there's any doubt, order using a credit card and you can always dispute the charge if the deal turns sour.

Agreed, "joint and several liability" is your friend.

Got my Fed RSRs from there, can't fault them, DPD tracking details sent out quickly and all arrived as it should.

Also used mytyres which are based in Germany and also received excellent service, even when I changed my mind and rejected the ones they sent me the first time around in favor of another brand.

DPD are also generally good and update you on delivery times along the way.

Buy on a CC and don't think about it, they will arrive and you will be happy.

Ordered some tyres from them in January that were marked as "in stock, 48-72 hour delivery"

After 5 days they hadn't turned up and no tracking details. No phone numbers on their website. I emailed them and was promised the tracking details, which didn't turn up. I then chased them the following day and they said they'd get the tracking number to me. Eventually the tracking number came through a few hours later and showed that they'd only sent the package about 1 hour before. The tyres took a few days to arrive (4 from memory) from somewhere in Europe.

I eventually got my tyres after almost 2 weeks from order even though they were supposed to be within 72 hours. Good price and if you're not in a hurry then you will get what you ordered, but just be aware that their timescales are not realistic and their customer service is shocking and tell outright lies (i.e. they're chasing the tracking number for the parcel they sent last week but in actual fact they haven't sent it yet).

I doubt I'd use them again.

I've bought lots of tyres from them, as have other people I know. Yes, they are as good as they seem. Prices are excellent and delivery is always quick.

Exchange rate means buying stuff from Germany (if that's the ultimate place of purchase) is very good value at the moment.  A nurburgring trip right now would be good value :D

Just gone on there and noticed 595RS-R in 215/40 R17 @ £83 each compared to Camskill £103.  Then was about to buy and noticed oponeo has them at £81 each.  Both free delivery too.

Currently awaiting delivery of 4 for the Roomster

I have 4 decent ones already on rims, but for £81 each I figured I'd get another pair in as will be doing a bit of trackwork this summer.  Also got a new pair of V70A in the garage to fit.....

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just ordered from them. Ordered on the Tuesday and it arrived on the Thursday. Would definitely use them again.

Really? I've been trying to buy from them the last two days (I have an addiction) and the payment processing isn't work. Hmmm...

I had no issues paying on VISA.  I think they even had the thing where it asks you for characters from memorable word too.  Always good to know those checks are being done.

Got them delivered. They been sat in the boot until tomorrow when I pop round the local garage to get them fitted.

I gave up trying to order from them when they won't accept a credit card for the first order.

Ive used them, ordered on Monday (lunchtime ish) arrived on wednesday, by far the best price around so would definitely use them again.

Just had a look and they work out about £3 a tyre cheaper than oponeo. I got two new tyres from oponeo last week on 48 hour delivery and I assume their prices haven't changed.

I wouldn't be too sure, they can change on a daily basis from my recent experience

i had 4 new goodyear f1 assymetrical 2 from black circle £392 fitted but i paid extra £12 to have them fitted at home , live in the sticks , bargain i thought for 18" performance tyres

I gave up trying to order from them when they won't accept a credit card for the first order.

I have just ordered some alloys from them, first order with them, no problems using a mastercard credit card.

Those rims, which were half price, ordered Monday evening arrived today (Thursday). I'm impressed.

Even better, it seems tyre leader also supply the rims with bolts and spigot rings, they arrived today
