12v sockets

Featured Replies

Is there a cunning plan regarding the 12v sockets available.  On page 83 of the owners manual it says " The cigarette lighter socket cannot be used as a 12v socket'  Yet on page 84 the cigarette socket and the socket in the boot are described as 12v power sockets. Seems strange.  Iam sure there is a reason for it.

Are you sure you didn't misread? Just checked the online manual and it states (on page 97, there's nothing about the cigarette lighter on page 83):

Note

The cigarette lighter socket can also be used as a 12- volt socket for electrical appliances » page 98, 12-Volt power outlet

No I did not misread.  If you download the actual manual and not the one you looked at, you will find that it is as I said on page 83 and 84.

Where does one find this "actual" manual? I was reading the one downloaded from Skodas' site.

The cigarette lighter is an option (in the UK) as standard it has two 12v sockets, but if the front one has been "optioned" as a cigarette lighter, then it should not be used as an output socket. It's probably got more wigglyamp thingies being fed to it than a standard 12v socket. Saying that, we have all been using cigarette lighters as power sockets for years. Just do it! but have a fire extinguisher to hand just in case.
