Drivers Inner door handle cable broke

Featured Replies

All,

Im selling my skoda now due to getting a company vehicle. but just my luck i went to get out of it the other day and the interior handle cable release snapped.

Ive stripped off the door card but am now puzzled on how to change the snapped cable. It seems the cable goes into a hole behind the inner door panel which is riveted on?

Pics should help understand what i mean..

Anyone replaced this before?

You have to drill out the rivets (on earlier models they used bolts) and remove the inner panel (ancillaries carrier).  http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/119359-removing-the-ancillaries-carrier/

You will need new rivets and an appropriate riveting tool to fit them.

The cable clips onto the door lock mechanism inside the door.

Thanks a lot, have ordered the part required now so its just a waiting game. I don't think i have a rivet gun, is there anything you can suggest when re-attaching the inner panel?

you might get away with largeish tech screws.
