Fixed price servicing

Featured Replies

My 1.2 Yeti is 3 years old today and had its last Skoda fixed price service last week, Underwoods Colchester quoted me a service plan for next three years including 'free' mot;s £770.01, anybody know how this compares with Skoda or if Skoda offer an extended fixed price servicing agreement after three years?

3 x MOT fee = £165 (approx)

That leaves £600 (approx) for 3 services.

How much is an annual/12k service normally?

2 x £139 and 1 x £259 over 3 years = £537 plus the MOT's so £770 looks a bit steep.

Plus, a good independent will probably be cheaper.

Don't think I'd be taking up their offer.

This might be of interest to you.

I posted in the Octy II Section about my local Skoda dealership offering Silver, Gold and Platinum services for cars over 3yo. Unfortunately the link to the servicing in my original post no longer works.

Basically, if i remember correctly, they were offering a minor service for about £90, a major service for about £130 and a major service including MoT (with the following years MoT free of charge) for £149.

These services and MoT's would be carried out at a Skoda dealer, by Skoda mechanics, and would be stamped by the dealership The only difference between this service and a Skoda service is the parts would not be Skoda branded and I probably wouldn't get any Skoda software updates.

To put that into perspective I could get 2 X major services and a Skoda minor service (for the Skoda software updates)and 4 MoT's for £439 at current prices.

If one Skoda dealership can offer cut price servicing and discounted MoT's, I can't see why others can't. The Servicing Manager told me they had to offer this as they were losing too many customers once their vehicles were out of warranty.

Thanks all for your views, if im going to use a dealership I would want them to be genuine skoda parts and skoda servicing history, just in case I have a major prob with something like timing chain etc!

I decided not to take up the skoda extended warrantee as it is expensive and not sure how long I will keep the beast.

The dealer that is offering this only sells Skodas, so the stamp will still say Parks of Hamilton Skoda, the parts used have to be up to the job, will be covered by a 12 month warranty (the car will be serviced every 12 months), and due to the Block Exemption Rule being relaxed (or is it enforced, I can never remember), you are no longer tied in to having your vehicle serviced by a dealer, nor does it affect your warranty, even from new. T&C's apply!

From personal experience, I wouldn't place so much faith in Skoda servicing (my car was delivered from the factory with a defective DMF, took Skoda 3 years to diagnose this, even though it had been through four services and a MoT).

That's why I did take out a 3 year extended warranty.
