needing to buy VCDS

Featured Replies

Having changed cars from my old (2001) Octy mk1, to a mk2, I don't think my very old copy of VAGCOM will work (doesn't work my fathers Fabia mk2), thus it looks like I need to shell out a few pennies.

After looking around, and reading on various forums I heard of vagbiz.com who are currently selling the full kit for a bit less than gendan, but does anyone have any experience of buying from them?  The guy in charge seems to be call Nigel, aka NHN and seems to be known on various other VAG forums.  He was quick enough to respond to my emails.

Thanks,

Matt

(hopefully I am not contravening any rules by mentioning other companies?)

vagcom.biz are listed in Ross Tech's distributor list as a sub-distributor, so I presume that's a good route to go. I'm waiting for the HEX-NET product to be available over here, though it's quite a bit more pricy than the HEX-USB+CAN :(

Thanks... guess I might as well get on and spend a few more pounds....  Sure my father will be pleased as he has been unable to find any (cheap) handheld generic code readers which work properly!

See how much it is from ilexa too. That's where mine came from. :)

Nigel is also on here, no worries with his products either.

vagbiz was the winner on price.  Ordered.

a couple of colleagues in the office have VAG cars, I wonder if I can charge them for scans ;-)

Most of the distributors are a similar price (around £270) for the current HEX-USB+CAN. That's with a US list price of $349. The HEX-NET 10 VIN (only available in the US at present) is $399 and the HEX-NET unlimited VIN is $499. Assuming a similar conversion to GBP it makes the price around £310 & £390 respectively. The more I think about it the more I'm likely to go with the current product.

Was it much cheaper at vagbiz?

I bought the HEX-NET direct from USA, but you do have to remember there's another £80 odd in tax to pay ontop.

A bit here and there has nearly paid for mine over the years.  ;)

Site under construction, how much are the cables on vagcom.biz?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk the free non retired version!

Nigel is approx. £10 cheaper than the other suppliers

Cheers. I made the mistake of telling her in doors how much one is, so I'll have to get one sneakily

I bit the bullet and ordered from Ilexa in the end. SWMBO reluctantly agreed :-)
