side strips

Featured Replies

Hi I am thinking of removing my side strips.

Has anyone removed the side strips before and is there any pictures of the car?

Heat gun and Polish does the trick

Thank you and yor car looks good

Im not sure on this, the car looks like its missing something...

I think it works both ways. I'm considering doing it but I'd be a bit paranoid in some of the car parks I have to use. Be nice to have a continuous panel to polish though.

Thanks :)

I think there is guide on how to do it. I also bought a rubber wheel that goes in a drill to take the glue off.

Was there any discolouring in the yellow paint? I have very faint orange lettering where my octavia badge was, tried everything and I think a machine will take some lacquer with the effort required. Don't really want to take the strips off and find the same under there.

If anything the reverse is probably true; the paint will have faded slightly everywhere except under the rubbing strips.

It wasn't fading that was the issue with the badge, it looks as though the adhesive has stained the paint as its orangey.  I think the pigment in yellow is pretty intolerant of contaminants.

Came off fine and paint underneath was fine. I was thinking about colour coding front and back but got more urgent things to do now lol
