PD150 smoky worries

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm a previous Fab Vrs owner with a Golf mk4 pd150. (Should have kept the Fabia). This forum seemed way more reliable with help too

Yesterday I went for a bit of a speedy moment..pulled well through all the gears till the final change where I lost all turbo power.

No light on the dash but I restarted it at a roundabout and it was ok. I thought it was just over boost from my rubbish vnt.

Sadly this morning, the car poured slightly blue and white smoke on heavy acceleration down a sliproad and then when I got to work it was smoky on idle...lightly.

On my way home it was ok, till I hit traffic then it began smoking again with revs and heavily smoking on acceleration.

What does anyone think has happened? I don't really want to get rid of the car, but I'd hesitate to spend hundreds on an old car as I'd never get it back.

Runs ok, power is good, temperature appears slightly low.

Hope someone can help?

Turbo shaft bearing oil seals, if it's high mileage its could have a worn turbo ? Check for oil in exhaust and disconnect the exy from the turbo and have a look. Also remove the inlet pipe from the turbo and check for end float in the shaft
