N/S/F Wheel is 15mm Forward

Featured Replies

Can anyone help...?:

The nearside front wheel on my 2011 Octavia Scout is rubbing on the front edge of the wheel arch.

It was first noticed after a deer strike the the nearside front and this was assumed to be the problem.

However, a trip to a body shop showed nothing pushed back (maybe 1 or 2mm) and we then found out that the wheel is actually 15mm forward. This is indicated by the fact that the gap from the back of the wheel to the wheel arch is larger (wheel is dead centre on offside) and the distance from centre of front wheel to centre of rear wheel is 15mm more on nearside compared to offside.

Has anyone heard of or experienced similar or could you offer any explanation why the wheel could be forward?

Many Thanks :)

Sounds like the lower arm is bent, are you sure you didn't hit anything else. Would have have thought deer would have done more same to bonnet and windscreen.

Thanks snig71. Deer strike was very low to the bumper & fog light. It leapt over a fence right as I was passing & as it hit the ground it dipped low so I think the head hit but I don't know if it bounced or went under the wheel. Could it cause the damage you describe if the head went under? I'm certainly not aware of any other impacts.

Is there anything I could see, check or measure myself to confirm if it is the lower arm or is it to subtle & would need a garage?

Thanks again:)

...or can anyone direct me to a diagram showing the relevant parts?

partsbase.org has diagrams.

You've probably bent a lower control arm.  You'll be able to see 15mm.  There'll be a wrinkle
