256mm Breakdown

Featured Replies

Got some 256mm calipers & carriers to fit to my fabia, but they could do with a good lick of paint.

How do I go about taking them apart to give it a proper paint and not just where I can get the brush in to?

Quick & dirty way,

jack car up, remove wheel, undo 2 x caliper mounting bolts, mask up the brake hose.  Clean caliper with wire brush - carefully  - then get TIN of UHT paint - loud colours look best, & paint WITH A BRUSH the caliper - avoid the disc piston & brake pad.  Leave it for a few hours then reasemble.  You can use a hair dryer to speed up curing time - a little.

sorry just re-read this the calipers are not on the car.....

Really easy - don't bother disembling the caliper, you won't see most of it anyway behind the wheel once fitted

mask off rubber seals and brake hose etc, then respray. :)  I used a plastikote branded (I think) bright red.
