Morning All,

 

Drivers side window decided to give up Sunday. It opened half way then stopped (not sure if it made a noise when it stopped) When I pressed the button it makes a sort of grinding glass type of noise? The glass is intact. I have pushed it up with my hands for now (although it gradually opens when driving along). does anyone know if this is an expensive repair, I'm guessing a ball ache of a DIY with stripping the door panel down etc, Can anyone recommend a local (Birmingham) garage to use?

Same happened me over a year ago and bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Window-Winder-Regulator-Mechanism-Front-Right-UK-Driver-Side-/400512899313?hash=item5d406dd8f1. Installing it was not too difficult if you take your time. So not expensive if you go down that route.

 Sorry can't help with a garage recommendation in your area.

Thanks for your reply Codswalloper, I've been told by a garage it's the regulator, booked in on sat for repair, can't see myself fixing it without causing more damage! cheers.
