TomTom SatNav Voices

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Until the middle of last year I had a TomTom Start (Classic version) satnav - something like this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-Start-Classic-Western-Europe/dp/B005MNC3PK/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1426015911&sr=8-8&keywords=TomTom

Among the voices I managed to download onto it was one called "Gary (Welsh)" and it caused much amusement to me and, when I gave them lifts as part of my job, my colleagues as well.

Unfortunately the SatNav in question got pinched (I assume) - it certainly vanished without a trace while I was at work.

Being unable to find it anywhere I subsequently purchased a TomTom Start 20 but unfortunately, much as I would like to be able to, I cannot download the voice onto my Start 20 as it does not appear in TomTom's shop. It was a free voice IIRC.

I am therefore wondering if anyone here has it and might be prepared to let me have the file(s) for it so that I can hopefully add it onto my new SatNav. I think there should be 3 files in connection with voices: one ending in .chk, one ending in .vif and probably one ending in .bmp

If anyone can help then I would be very pleased for a download link to get the voice back. The files would probably have to be zipped and then the ZIP file sent by email.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I`ve just plugged my TomTom 730 into my PC and managed to find Gary Welsh in the list of voices no problem.

If you are still having problems PM me your email address and I`ll zip the files over to you. They are all labeled as data83 and stored in the Voices folder on my memory card. Like you say they are .chk .bmp and .vif
