Speaker Mounting

Featured Replies

So after finding out how I should wire the speaker in this thread (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/346701-skoda-fabia-speaker-wiring/) I've run into another problem. The window bar is in the way so the speaker doesn't fit into the hole, and on top of that the hole is wider than 5.25". I really should've done more research.

Now the speaker can sit on the bar (magnets and stuff) and be pretty firm and not get in the way of the window, but does this mess with the speaker? The door card can go back on without the speakers being in the way.

I'm absolutely broke right now (I'm a student) so is there any way I can make this work? Will the magnetic hold suffice? Can I buy some cheap parts from my local B&Q to sort it out?

Apologies for my absolute lack of skill in this area, but that's why I'm here!

It's not advisable to let the magnet sit on the metal bar i'm not sure exactly what would happen but I wouldn't do it much good you may end up blowing the speaker.

Get down to your Local B&Q and ask them to make you a speaker ring from an off cut of mdf, or just use a jigsaw and do it yourself. You will end up with a much better sounding system. You can have the best set of speakers in the world but if they are not mounted properly they will still sound rubbish, in a car it's the mounting of the speaker rather than the speaker itself that results in a decent sounding install.

You want to end up with something that looks like this.
