VRS Central Locking Drivers Door Intermittent Ignoring Keyfob

Featured Replies

As per the title, every now and again the keyfob will unlock all doors BAR the drivers.

Also note that once inside the car, the central locking switch will not lock the door, it will unlock it, but not lock it.

I suspect a faulty motor not being able to move in one direction, however im also dubious that it may be water ingress as the rubbers on the windows appear to allow water to get into the door (possibly), as there is a 2mm gap on the left hand side of the window IE the rubber does not cover the entire stretch of the window.

Any ideas short of replacing the motor?

Replace the rubber and dry out the door? Unsure on how to replace the rubber and i couldnt find another thread on here about it. Note its not the large rubber seal (they need doing as well) on the outside of the door, its the rubber either side of the glass.

So update, it now unlocks with the key, wont lock with the key (on the button), and when in the car if i mess with the rocker switch it will lock and unlock, and on occassion, refuse to lock - i can hear something its as if its struggling to pull down the mechanism to lock the door.

Update 2! So now, the rocker switch when pressed for lock, will mostly lock. But on occassion it will also unlock. I would assume that means either the switch is broken or the relay controlling the lock is broken? Anyone know which/where the relay is? I'd like to take it out and test it.

Ok Update three for everyone stumped with an anwser, i know you are all reading intently ;)

I removed the window rubbers and cleaned them out from all of the grime and general green moss...dried and replaced them.

Touch wood, its been a week and a half now and the issue has been getting better (IE less drivers door ignoring the central locking commands), therefore i feel this MAY have been an issue with the door rubbers allowing water to reach sections of the window motor &/or control module in the door! Hoping the motor has nearly dried out now and things are on the up!

Hopefully this should be the last post and this can be closed, however ill leave it open for a bit in case it reoccurs this month or so :) !

Still working from the keyfob. Although the switch inside the car isnt doing a lot, seems to be off and on. Closing this and opening a thread for the interior of the car :)
