Ever heard of fake products?

Featured Replies

I'm sure you've all seen the fake Coke at shops, alcohol In the corner shops and even fake chocolate on the tv.

Got me thinking, have any of you guys had, seen or possibly used... A fake product?

It got me thinking while looking on eBay. Some companies selling products for say £6 and others selling for £15. When I've purchases my auto finesse things from ebay I've paid a little extra and bought them from proper stores I recogonised.

I should add... I originally thought this when I bought my bilt hamber clay, it was different to my friends bilt hamber clay.

Could the clay have been a different grade?  There is soft, medium, hard. :)

I don't think I have bought a fake product.  Yes, I have bought cheaper alternatives quite often.  A fake in my eyes would normally be illegal.  Getting the cheap cola from Lidl doesn't really count. :)

With my detailing I also don't think I have bought fake.

The world of detailing must be touched by fake goods, plenty of margin to be had by dilution or substitution, I doubt the labels are difficult to fake.

Generally I try and keep my purchases with smaller independent companies with a good reputation and an interest in their business area rather than just a faceless seller on ebay or amazon or a pile em high chain like halfords.  This I hope would give me a better chance of dodging the fakers and scoundrels.

If I ever do chance anything on the 'bay im either double careful about the trader and product, or only take a chance on something I can afford to bin.

The clay was the same, just bought from different places, both in the dark blue box. I also think mine is different in cold temperatures where his seems more soft still. It got me thinking that's all.

As for the coke, I mean the ones that have the genuine Coke label. I remember watching an episode of "Fake Britain" where they went round shops checking and more than you think are fake.

But yeah I agree, must be fakes!

I guess you wouldn't know unless your a pro or something using a regular product.

There are fakes...ie. Where a product/goods is/are madeout of cheap materials and sold as genuine with a branded label

AND

There are copies, where a product/goods is/are made out of cheap materials and is a dirct copy but not branded as such

eBay is full of the latter
