RNS510 Software Source

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

Not posted for a while, but hopefully someone can help.

Yup, checked all the RNS links so far, but having trouble actually finding a site that will let me download the Version 3XXX (3984) firmware - tried the link from GTI forums.

I have a 3T0 XXX 680A unit with HW04 (Maps 7333) Current S/W is 2764

Thanks in advance :-D

Thank you- yes. Going to try that. Hopefully no bricking, touchwood.

One final question. Your original part number started as an 'A' unit and once the firmware was complete, reported as a 'B' unit?

Cheers!

Is there a specific reason you want 3984?

I can give links to 4020 or 4120 that will work in a Columbus with your part number.

Yes, it will show as a 'B', but that is not your revision just the 'software' part number.

No, not really, it's the one I thought was most stable from my quick search. I guess my hardware is about right on the limit of where 4120 will work without breaking the radio board? - Links appreciate if you think it will run OK.

Also, as the 3XXX and 4XXX versions seem to re-partition the drive, It looks like I will lose the contents of my music and maps? I have a 7333 map disc (would quite like to get that more current too) and I can re-install the music.

Anything else I should look out for

Thanks for you help so far.

I have a Columbus with the same part number and have run both the firmware I mentioned. This is as far as you'd want to go as there is no benefit beyond this.

4120 adds radio text to 4020. That's all.

Does your map disc include speed cameras? If it's genuine it shouldn't and will fit fine with either firmware. If it does, go with 4020.

Both will repartition your HD losing all data: maps, music & POI's. You don't need to go to 38xx first to get the partitions as I've know several people go from 2xxx and even 1xxx straight to 4020 without issue.

I'll dig out links to downloads once I've got back to my computer. If you want them quicker go to 'My Gti' or 'RNS Firmware' for easy to find and reliable download links.

Thanks again.

I do not have speed cameras on my existing maps, only speed limits, so I think it is genuine.

Radiotext would be useful :-)

I look forward to your links :-)

Cheers
