Rapid Wiper Noise

Featured Replies

Hey,

I have a 2013 Rapid Elegance. It has standard wipers (not auto, if that's even an option). It's a RHD car. The wiper makes a noticable noise when it reaches the right hand corner as the rubber strip flips over to wipe in the opposite direction. Skoda state the wipers are fine and that they have had quite a few people complain about this. They have replaced 3 full wiper systems on Rapids and yet the noise is still present.

I use this car mainly for long commutes and living in UK, let's face it, it rains a lot.

Has anyone got any suggestions to make this annoying noise desist?

Thanks in advance.

Garry.

I've taken mine in about this and was told its normal... So very interested if anyone has a fix for it!

When I bought mine (second hand 40.000km) I hade a lot of noise too and the right whiper always left a trace at the top end, just in front of where I look true the window (LHD). Was realy annoying. I washed it a few times with carshapoo, but didn t work. Did it with whitespirit and it is fine now... no noise and no traces...

Can't say I've noticed any out-of-place mechanical noise when using my wipers, but did find the stock Bosch-based blades to be noisy (as well as quite ineffective). Replaced them with a set of Michelin Stealth wipers. Wipers are now extremely quiet and more effective at removing water from the screen.

It has been known for folk to twist the wiper arm a little to remedy wiper judder, so the blade sits square to the screen.

All adjustments at your own risk :peek:

on my present seat Toledo, and the previous seat Ibiza when brand new, I encountered noisy wipers, I replaced with bosch aerotwin blades, and all is now quite.

I don't think the manufacturers blades fitted on the production line are up to the job.

Agree the OEM wipers are bad quality. I would change to better ones as mentioned above[emoji106]

Mine did it too [emoji57]

I usually go to ECP for wipers as they're pretty cheap. Can't see to find the correct ones. Anyone have the aero twin codes or links to alternative wipers?

Cheers.

The ECP web site has yet to have the Rapid fully added to its parts marcher. You get a better result if you search for a Seat Toledo for the same year as your own car.

Still can't find any wipers that are direct fit. Any suggestions?

My advise is as before - don't waste your money on Bosch AeroTwin (which is what they actually fit on the production line), they are nowhere near as good as they used to be. If you can, get yourself to a Costco and get the Michelin Stealth wipers. A pair work out at about £14 inc VAT. Otherwise, try eBay or GSF car parts (who we also get a club discount with)
